- Message From the Chancellor
- When ACT 87 was passed on April 10, 1880 by the Louisiana General Assembly, legislators envisioned an institution for “the education of persons of color” to be located in the City of New Orleans.
- After thirty-two years, Louisiana legislators decided that the University should be moved to the State’s Capital.
- Accordingly, Southern University must be ready to adjust as opportunities and challenges emerge.
- The early leaders of this great University knew that “without vision, the people perish.”
- The Southern University and A & M College Strategic Plan 2003-2008 is designed to support the Board of Regents, State of Louisiana Master Plan for Public Postsecondary Education: 2001.
