PaperPort Link to DocuShare Installation

The PaperPort Link to DocuShare is a plugin for the popular Visioneer PaperPort Desktop bundled with many desktop scanners. It is a self contained installer which does not require the DocuShare Windows Client to be previously installed.

Instructions for use of the PaperPort Link to DocuShare are available in Chapter 13, "DocuShare PaperPort Link" in the DocuShare User's Guide.
Obtaining and Installing the PaperPort Link to DocuShare

Before you can use the PaperPort Link to DocuShare, you must download and install it on your computer. The software is distributed as a self-extracting, executable installation program.

Note: Installation of the PaperPort Link to DocuShare may fail if you do not have adequate administrative privileges on your computer. If you encounter error messages that warn of locked or in-use resources, you may need to have an administrator install the software.

  1. Download the appropriate file for your operating system from the list on the left. Available choices are: Windows 95/98 and NT 4.0. Save this file to a temporary location on your local computer.
  2. Locate the installation file using your file management tool. Select this file and double click on the filename to start the installation program.
  3. The installation program will ask where you want to install the PaperPort Link to DocuShare application. The program will create this directory if it does not exist.
  4. When the installation program completes, you can delete the installation program if you wish.
  5. An icon representing the PaperPort Link to DocuShare should now appear on your Visioneer PaperPort application. On earlier versions of PaperPort, you may need to invoke PaperPort's "Refresh links" command to get the icon to appear.
  6. To use the PaperPort Link to DocuShare, you need to map one or more DocuShare servers for the Link to access. The first document you drop onto the Link will popup a dialog with a Browse... button for selecting the DocuShare collection. Once you select Browse... you'll be able to map a DocuShare server. Instructions for mapping a server can be found in the DocuShare User's Guide section Mounting a DocuShare Server on Windows Explorer.
